Let me be the first to apologize for the few week hiatus. I went home for about a week for fall break, and combined with mid terms it's been a pretty hectic last few weeks. I'm back and settled in and ready to start blogging ... for all your enjoyment of course.
As I sit here right now, my Michigan State Spartans are locked in a tight contest with Iowa (game is tied at 17 early in the fourth quarter). For all you D-III college football fans, the Ithaca football team is beating Springfield 34-21 late in third quarter (not that I'm into shameless self promotion, but if you really are into D-III sports, check out my other blog at www.theithacan.org/hattrick). So I'm following both of these games pretty closely.
Since I last blogged, the Diamondbacks were swept by the Rockies, and the Steelers shut out the Seahawks. I don't think I need to say anything ... you know I'm upset. In fact, I promptly added the Rockies to my list of hated teams on my Fanzak profile. Hey look, I realize that the Rockies are (or were) on an unprecedented run. I respect and actually enjoy the way they play. However, I hate when all of America jumps on a hot team. I HATE it. There are a nauseating amount of fair weather fans in this country, and it quite frankly, to be blunt, sucks. I wish more people would just root for their teams, win or lose. I'm sick of hearing, "Well my team is out, so I'm gonna root for the (team name here)." Um ... no! That's not how it works. I don't know, maybe I'm just bitter (which is entirely possible, even likely).
But I am enjoying the World Series so far. I picked the Red Sox to win pretty much from the beginning of the season, so I'm glad that my prediction looks correct. I do think Colorado will win a game or two, but Boston is just ridiculously good.
In other Boston-related sports news, Tom Brady is simply the man. I nabbed Brady with my third-round pick in my fantasy football league's draft this year, and it has proved to be the best draft choice since the Patriots actually drafted Brady in the sixth round years ago. With 27 touchdowns and 2,125 yards already, Brady is on pace for well over 40 touchdowns and 4,000 yards. He has already given me 238 fantasy points (standard scoring), and this will likely go down as the best fantasy season of all time.
I've got a lot more thoughts bouncing around, but I just can't stay away from these football games anymore. I'll be posting a lot more though, so comment away!
