After watching the Redskins Patroits game today, I now know that Tom Brady should be MVP this year. Not just because of his play, but because his backup is absolutely awful. Kevin O'Connell, a third round pick last year, played in 4 series tonight. Here is the summary:

1st Drive

  • 17 yard screen to Greg Lewis. The pass was about 5 yards and Greg Lewis made a nice move past the cornerback to get another 12 yards.
  • Incomplete pass to Greg Lewis.
  • Ill-advised pass over the middle. Rocky McIntosh made a nice play to bat the ball in the air which went right to Laron Landry.

2nd Drive

  • Screen to Galloway. No gain.
  • Rollout pass intercepted by a rookie Redskin who has spent the majority of the preseason getting burned. Looks like he can make any corner good.

3rd Drive

  • Roll out to the right, no one open. Ran out of bounds.
  • Another incompletion.
  • Short pass to Green-Ellis for minus 4 yards. Luckily there was a roughing the passer so this accounted for his second longest offensive play.
  • Shot gun pass....incomplete.
  • Another incompletion.

4th Drive

  • Another incompletion.

And that is all folks. 3-10, 18 yards (17 on the first throw which was really only a 6 yard throw) , 0 TDs, 2 INTs. And a whopping 0 QB rating. Being a Redskins fan, I have spent the last 20 years watching bad quarterback play, but I don't remember many performances that were THAT bad.

Haynesworth hit Brady late in the second quarter which may have hurt his arm. It is being called a sore shoulder, but we all know how honest the Patriots are with injuries. If it is anything serious, the Pats can kiss this season goodbye. There is no more Matt Cassell to fall back on.
