I apologize for the delay, I was pretty swamped this week. But hey, better late than never, right? The third week of the NFL season was an interesting one, to say the least. My Seahawks won (awesome) and the Steelers won again (not awesome). But they beat the 49ers at least, which helps me out. Still, I have not warmed at all to the Steelers since that fateful Super Bowl in Detroit. You better believe I have the week five rematch circled, highlighted and circled again. But all grudges aside, there's a lot to talk about, so let's get to it. - The Chargers are clearly not as good as they were last season, but they are not as bad as everyone is making them out to be. There's no denying they are off to a slow start, but 1-2 is far from being a season-ending record. I absolutely believe Rivers, Tomlinson, Gates and the rest of that ultra-talented team will rebound this week, and this season. My prediction for the Chargers' record this season: 10-6 and a wild card berth. Mark it down. - Green Bay has a legitimate shot to win between 11-13 games this season. The only potential losses I see on their schedule: Week 8 at Denver, Week 13 at Dallas and Week 16 at Chicago. That would put the Packers in position for home field advantage throughout the playoffs - seriously. I'd feel more confident in this prediction if they had any semblance of a running game. But with Brett Favre playing out of his mind, I would not count out Green Bay. - The AFC South is the best division in the NFL. The Colts (3-0), Jaguars (2-1), Texans (2-1) and Titans (2-1) all have winning records, and all look like legitimate playoff contenders. The Colts should win their usual 12-14 games, while the Jaguars and Titans could both reach double-digit victories. I'm not completely sold on Houston yet, but they are making positive strides. - The NFC South is the worst division in the NFL. With two winless teams (New Orleans and Atlanta) and the overrated Bucs, this division just plain stinks. Carolina should run away with the division crown. - The Bills probably are the most cursed NFL team. Buffalo fans have it rough in all sports. The Bills and Sabres have both had their hearts broken too many times (I happen to be a long-suffering Sabres fan). But the amount of injuries this team has been faced to deal with this year is just unfair. Buffalo is realistically looking at a 3-5 win season. Those are the biggest things that stood out to me after this week. Check back this week for more posts on football and, of course, next week's edition of Tuesday Afternoon Hangover.
