Some people may not agree with my pick, but I think that Detroit should take Mark Sanchez. Nothing against Mathew Stafford, but watching tape of him the last few days, he really does not look as good as Sanchez in the pocket. He also relied on his cannon of an arm way too much. In my opinion Stafford, does not have very good footwork and I think that will cause problems. In his interviews I have not been impressed at all. I know I have not seen as much tape as the GM's, but ESPN has certainly spent enough time covering these guys for me to at least get a decent idea.

ESPN ran an interesting study on underclassmen QB's coming into the NFL and it does not look good for either of these guys. The Steelers were successful with Big Ben but that has been about it. Ryan Leaf should scare the Tigers to death with this pick and I think it is. The big problem is though, the money for the first pick has gone through the ceiling so you are looking at 30 to 40 million in guaranteed cash. In my opinion I cannot see paying that for a LB. You pay that for QB's and OT's.  Aaron Curry will be awesome, but look at what the Steelers have done over the years. You just do not spend that type of cash on a LB. I think Kansas City trades out of their spot for this very reason.

I think you take Sanchez as I think he has more of an upside and a very good football IQ. He has impressed me in interviews. He is cocky too. Detroit needs that. I hate to say it but they are terrible and they need a big time leader to get them out of the massive hole they have dug themselves in. They do nothing right at this point. I cannot believe that the Lions are as bad as they are. They need to make sure that they have a good overall draft, not just the first pick. Matt Millen was so inept that it really blows my mind. At least they have Calvin Johnson. He is their only bright spot.

The Lions have hope, but I just do not love the fact they are going to pick Stafford. I think he is going to bomb like Ryan Leaf. Like I said just my opinion.

Biography
Justin Brindger is one of the 10 Pittsburgh Pirates fans that still exist. He tortures himself every morning by reading about what stage of the 20 year rebuilding plan the Pirates are currently in. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA but lived in Williamsport, PA for most of his life and almost caught a home run ball from Sean Burroughs of Long Beach, CA during the 1992 Little League World Series. He went to Ithaca College in NY and yes, the Gorges are awesome. He started his business career trading baseball cards at the Dixie Baseball Card Shop, and thought he made some great decisions with Barry Bonds rookie cards only to find out 20 years later that the dude was on roids and the cards were not going to pay for his fiancée's engagement ring after all.
