The Sixers could really benefit from bring back The Answer…. This is a young team with potential that could use a strong veteran presence such as Iverson. He will bring instant credibility to a 5-14 Sixers team that is need of a spark. Jrue Holliday (the Sixers 1st round pick this year) needs to absorb as much as he can from the iconic Iverson. Iverson should move into a starting role, which is what he was looking for and what he deserved. I want Iverson to win a championship just like a lot of other basketball fans but not at the cost of his dignity. Do you really want this guy to come off the bench just to win a title? This is not Daryl Armstrong. This is not Tyron Lue. This is not Derek Fisher. This is Allen “Motherf&^*^)” Iverson, son! The Answer! This dude had one of the most popular shoes in NBA history. All signs point to a likely retirement for Allen Iverson, who left the Grizzlies for personal reasons following Friday's loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. While he has made no definitive statement to say that he is retiring, Iverson insists that he doesn't want to come off the bench for the Grizzlies. His comments suggest that he has indeed forgotten about his comments he made when he signed here. He now says the team should have known he needed to start. He has said that he feels like he is reaching the end of his career, so retirement is a likely scenario. He said he doesn't need to fit in with the Grizzlies because the only way he contributes to a team is by playing. That is the Allen Iverson we have come to know and despise over the past 13 seasons.&nb

Last week in “Fun With Box Scores” I took a look at about ten different things that jumped out from the previous week’s box scores. It was the initial plan to roll out ten more fun little facts that I discovered while rummaging through the box scores this week, but I came across one box score that was so unique that I don’t feel like any other stat line from the week is worthy of being in the same post as this one. Therefore, this week’s “Fun With Box Scores” is just one box score. It comes from Wednesday night’s Lakers-Rockets game. The stat line looks like this: D. Fisher 35 minutes, 0-5 from the field, 0 points, 0 rebounds, 0 assists. You read that correctly. In 35 minutes of play, Derek Fisher was unable to accumulate a single point, rebound, or assist in the Lakers overtime win over the Rockets.

Although it is usually a highlight of Lakers-Grizzlies meetings, the Gasol Brothers will not face off tonight when Pau's Lakers host Marc's Grizzlies. Pau will miss tonight's game as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury, although by all accounts it seems to be completely healed. As with Allen Iverson's situation, though, with a hamstring you can never be too careful. Last season, Pau held a slight edge over his younger brother, averaging 16 ppg in the teams' four matchups, all Laker wins, while Marc averaged 13 ppg. However, Marc outscored Pau in each of the last two meetings, 17-13 and 14-12, respectively. The Lakers may be somewhat fatigued as they enter tonight's game coming off consecutive overtime games against Oklahoma City and Houston. I wouldn't count on it, but if the Grizzlies can get off to another quick start and punish the Lakers physically with Zach Randolph and Marc, they could hang around. They just have to be consistent and efficient on offense. They absolutely must limit their turnovers because they are going to need all the extra possessions they can get.

He fooled me yet again. We’ve seen this act before. Andrew Bynum, through the first five games, is averaging over 20-10, yet again. It’s nothing new. For the third straight season, the young, potential stud, center for the Los Angeles Lakers has hit the ground running and has shown flashes of being an all-star caliber center in the NBA. And, for the third straight season, Bynum’s great start may be overshadowed by, yet another, major injury. With 24.7 seconds left in the Lakers overtime win over the Rockets last night, Kobe Bryant dished a perfect pass to Bynum under the hoop and he was fouled as he tried to convert the lay-up. It wasn’t an obscenely hard foul, but certainly one in which the Rockets were making it clear they weren’t about to allow Bynum to score without heading to the free throw line. So everyone's sold on the Lakers, huh? Well, I'm not, and here's why – the only thing harder than winning a championship is repeating as champion. Yes L.A. has Kobe. Yes L.A. has Gasol. And yes L.A. now has Artest. They will be one of the final four teams and they could very easily win another title. But I just don't see it. I just think they come up a little short. But if L.A. isn't winning the title, then who is? Well, that's a question I've batted around for quite some time. I'm a huge fan of the Magic. Dwight Howard is a stud and his supporting cast rivals Kobe's. I love the Spurs this year. Cleveland and Boston will both be there in the end. But ultimately my prediction is that the Magic will top the Spurs to win their first NBA championship. For the rest of my predictions, keep on reading. Eastern Conference 1. Orlando Magic (65-17) - Love the Vince Carter addition. They have more depth than last season too. 2. Cleveland Cavaliers (60-22) - LeBron is enough to pencil them in for 55-60 wins. 3. Boston Celtics (58-24) - Still solid, but getting older. It all depends on Garnett. 4. Atlanta Hawks (48-34) - Hawks are good, but not in East's elite. 5. Chicago Bulls (44-38) - Bulls will make a push for homecourt, but I have them coming up just short. 6. Miami Heat (43-39) - They're a Dwayne Wade injury away from the lottery. 7. Indiana Pacers (41-41) - The Pacers? Am I crazy?? Nope, I really like this young squad. 8. Philadelphia 76ers (40-42) - There's just not much to like here. I'm not crazy about them. 9. Toronto Raptors (38-44) - They'll be improved, but I don't know by how much. 10. Detroit Pistons (35-47) - A lot of offseason movement, but I don't think it'll matter. 11. Washington Wizards (33-49) - Similar to the Pistons. Active but does that make them better? 12. New York Knicks (31-51) - I love D'Antoni, but he's trying to make a feast with spoiled food. 13. Charlotte Bobcats (28-54) - They will regret the Okafor trade. Big time. 14. New Jersey Nets (24-58) - Growing pains are inevitable for this young group. 15. Milwaukee Bucks (17-65) - With the first pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, the Milwaukee Bucks select ... Western Conference 1. Los Angeles Lakers (65-17) - Lakers should again cruise through the regular season. 2. San Antonio Spurs (58-24) - Won't win the West in the regular season, but will come playoff time. 3. Portland Trailblazers (55-27) - Portland should win their division and be among the West's best. 4. New Orleans Hornets (54-28) - Love the addition of Okafor. My potential surprise team. 5. Dallas Mavericks (52-30) - Dallas has a deep, solid team, but it still might not be enough. 6. Utah Jazz (48-34) - Jazz are still playoff material, but not a title contender. 7. Denver Nuggets (47-35) - I was high on Denver last year, but I forsee a slide down this season. 8. Houston Rockets (43-39) - No Yao, No Artest, No T-Mac ... no problem? I think they grab the No. 8 seed. 9. Phoenix Suns (41-41) - The Suns again just miss out on the playoffs. 10. Los Angeles Clippers (39-43) - This team should be much improved, but is one year away still. 11. Minnesota Timberwolves (38-44) - My T'wolves will surprise if they stay healthy. 12. Golden State Warriors (30-52) - Some nice young pieces, but still too raw. 13. Oklahoma City Thunder (28-54) - Will be better, but not near the playoffs yet. 14. Memphis Grizzlies (20-62) - Should be another long year for the Grizzlies. 15. Sacramento Kings (18-64) - They'll struggle to win 18 games if Martin misses any time. Playoffs Eastern Conference - First round: No. 1 Orlando over No. 8 Philadelphia, No. 2 Cleveland over No. 7 Indiana, No. 3 Boston over No. 6 Miami, No. 5 Chicago over No. 4 Atlanta. Second round: No. 1 Orlando over No. 5 Chicago, No. 2 Cleveland over No. 3 Boston. Finals: No. 1 Orlando over No. 2 Cleveland. Western Conference - First round: No. 1 Los Angeles over No. 8 Houston, No. 2 San Antonio over No. 7 Denver, No. 3 Portland over No. 6 Utah, No. 4 New Orleans over No. 5 Dallas. Second round: No. 1 Los Angeles over No. 4 New Orleans, No. 2 San Antonio over No. 3 Portland. Finals: No. 2 San Antonio over No. 1 Los Angeles. NBA Finals - Orlando over San Antonio

The center position is one of the strongest spots on the Blazers roster. And if you combine last seasons stats for Joel Pryzbilla and Greg Oden the numbers look pretty good. 13.4 pts, 15.7 rbs, 2.3 bks. What team wouldn't be happy with that?
Last season began with the Trailblazers annointing Greg as their starter at the 5 spot. It was and up and down year for the youngster from Ohio State. He started 39 games for Portland, had a career-high 24 points and 15 rebounds in a win against the Milwaukee Bucks on January 19. If he'd been able to average 36 minutes per game his PER would have been 14.8 pts, 11.6 rbs, and 1.9 bks. The season also had its low points for Oden. Not only did he have trouble staying in games due to foul trouble, ( his PER for fouls if he'd averaged 36 min was 6.5) he had physical problems as well and suffered an injury to his foot during his first game against the Lakers, and fractured his kneecap in February during a collision with Corey Magette and missed three weeks.

Celine Dion and Ron Artest go together like cereal and mayonnaise yet somehow the self proclaimed "thug", Artest, makes it work. The guy is known for his wild antics such as going into the crowd and beating up a fan, but it seems that Artest is beginning to display a softer side. As a Laker fan I love that we are bringing a little crazy on our team because a team can always use a little crazy, right? Although he can't carry a tune and the video is clearly irritating you get a sense that he means what he is singing which makes is somewhat enjoyable to watch. I am going to stop talking about it and just let you watch it: Continue reading "Its official Lakers Ron Artest is a Celine Dion fan"

Are People Really Arguing Lebron James Is Not King? BLASPHEMY! By Adam Hill Yeah, let’s get one thing straight, Lebron James was dunked on by Xavier’s, Jordan Crawford, but are you really going to use that to say Lebron James is not King?First and foremost, until you show me a player who cannot ever be dunked on, that video is irrelevant, not to mention real blurry and hard to see who is who and what really happened. The most common responses for the best basketball players are Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Lebron James and right fully so. If you do not remember, you definitely have seen replays and highlights of Air Jordan’s career and his famous game winning shots. How can you not have seen the highlights, if not the real game, against the Jazz, Game 6 in 1998 when MJ had less than 10 seconds and gives Brian Russell, of the Jazz, a bit of a shove (which is a whole different argument in itself) to win his 6th championship in 6 NBA Finals appearances all within 8 years! Miraculous would a bit of an understatement. Here is a list of some of his accomplishments. Michael Jordan-6 Championships in 8 years (only 6 Finals Appearances)-6 MVP’s-9 times a member of All Defensive Team-10 NBA scoring titles (7 of which were in consecutive years)-41 point average in the 1993 NBA finals (still stands as a record)-63 points against Boston in 1986 (most points ever in a playoff game)-Member of the original dream team coached under Bob Knight in 1984.

Magic get revenge, top Lakers in finals rematch

Bryant jumped into his teammates pouring out from the bench in what would be a premature celebration. Officials reviewed the play and ruled that it was only a two-pointer. And just like that, the Lakers are in the first three-game skid since they acquired Gasol from Memphis in February 2008.

Lakers hope to regain magic against Finals foe

"Everybody wants to beat us. Everybody likes looking at the game (against the Lakers) on their calendar and saying, `This is when I want to play my best game.'' So this is part of it. It''s tough to put yourself into a position to repeat (as champions). We have to understand that."

Gasol Has Inside Perspective on Lakers' Recent Woes -
-- by Fanhouse 4 days ago.
Same old story with Kobe Bryant. He had the same issue with Shaq and now it is Gasol. The only difference is that Shaq was way more dominant than Gasol, and had serious command presence, one which forced Bryant to play according to the team. Shaq wouldn''t put up with Bryant''s ego, and had leadership of the team, where I see Gasol as passive and unwilling to assert himself the way Shaq did....Until he learns this, the Lakers will fall short of their potential.

Miami Heat: Victory over Los A ngeles Lakers and Kobe Bryant could go a long way - South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com
-- by Sun Sentinel 7 days ago.
The Heat said something positive about itself back in December, when it led the Lakers by two late, even after Wade missed one of two free throw attempts. Then Kobe Bryant made a ridiculous one-footed 3-pointer at the buzzer, over Wade. The Heat needs something similarly miraculous from Wade or a teammate tonight, something to reverse the regression. It needs a signature victory, something to spark its stretch run, so it might capitalize on April''s soft closing schedule.
