Well hockey fans the season has come to an end. Not how I would have liked but I was prepared, I had a feeling the Pens were gonna win this series. That was quite a series though! I have to mention that my statement when I said nobody would care about these two teams in the finals again was not accurate. They actually got pretty decent ratings.
If you are reading this column I am assuming you watched the Stanley Cup finals so you know that it was a close and hard fought series all the way through. Pittsburgh dug themselves a 2-0 hole but they were equal to the task on home ice to tie it up. I doubted them a little bit after that trainwreck of a game five they had. But as they did in games three and four they bounced back at home to tie the series at three In game seven the Pens were just the better team and got a heck of an effort from their goaltender right down to the last seconds. Pens win the game 2-1 and the series 4-3.
So at this point all that is left to say is congratulations to the Penguins and the city of Pittsburgh. And also congratulations to Evgeni Malkin for winning the Conn Smyth trophy for MVP of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. We'll see you next season. Enjoy the offseason and may your favorite team make some big offseason moves. Take care!
